Your fall annuity dates

ERS deposits or mails your annuity payment on the last business day of the month. If you’re a retiree from another system, such as the Teacher Retirement System (TRS), the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS) or the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), contact that system for annuity payment dates. Your coverage begins decreasing at age 70, even as premium rates continue to increase every five years. Age-based coverage decreases and premium increases like this are standard for term life insurance. You can elect a lower level of coverage or drop coverage any time, without waiting for your enrollment period.

Your coverage will be reduced to a percentage of your elected amount, based on your age on Jan. 1 of each year, rounded to the next highest  $1,000.

See the Plan Year 2027 premium rates for non-Medicare retirees (pdf).

Any premium changes for retirees who are eligible for Medicare will be effective Jan. 1, 2027. ERS will provide information about those changes in Fall Enrollment packets and the December edition of this newsletter.
